Analyst

OnPoint Analytics, in the San Francisco Bay Area (Emeryville), provides a broad range of economic, financial, and statistical consulting services to parties involved in high-stakes legal proceedings and business disputes. We specialize in matters involving antitrust, intellectual property, mergers & acquisitions, risk valuation, class certification, pharmaceutical, agricultural and food industries, options and other traded contracts, and complex damage estimation. Our projects are interesting and diverse and our staff is highly energetic, friendly and knowledgeable.

Positions Available

One full time Analyst position is available immediately.  Base salary is highly competitive and includes a large bonus potential.  In addition we offer an excellent benefits package.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include:

  • Collecting market, industry, company and other demographic information
  • Reviewing, summarizing and analyzing industry trends
  • Applying statistical and econometric methods to financial and economic data
  • Coding software routines to implement complex analyses
  • Presenting results in a clear and articulate manner for both an experienced as well as a lay audience
  • Preparing expert reports, trial exhibits and other presentation materials for the court in ongoing legal proceedings
  • Preparing materials to help expert witnesses deliver clear and concise trial testimony

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree with a focus on Economics, Finance, Financial Economics, Econometrics or Statistics.  Previous experience in a consulting environment is a plus but not required.

Professional and academic experience should provide a foundation in some of the following areas:

  • Econometrics
  • Industrial organization & antitrust
  • Finance
  • Agricultural economics
  • Mathematical & quantitative methods
  • Statistics

Competence using Stata is required; experience with SAS is a plus. Candidates must be detail-oriented, have the ability to think analytically and critically, and have excellent oral and written communication skills. A high level of programming competence and experience with large data sets is required. The ability to develop and manage a schedule and to oversee others within a team is desired. We frequently work under tight deadlines, so a high energy level and an ability to work quickly while maintaining a good sense of humor is important.
