FLEXIBLE SEARCH ACROSS DATA TYPES

OnPoint's comprehensive search capabilities combine those of industry standard platforms such as Summation, Concordance and litigation web portals, with a unique live user interface and statistical database integration. These search functions were designed around four basic principles:

  1. Faster is better,
  2. Easier is better,
  3. Structured searches are essential, and
  4. A single search should extend simultaneously across all forms of evidence.

In litigation, time matters. The thousands of hours spent rummaging through manual indices and hard copy storage are hours lost for more productive tasks. Worse yet, these delays often jeopardize counsel's ability to prepare adequately or to score critical points on cross examination or redirect. Using the best imaging, recognition, and electronic discovery data capture technology, along with best of breed coding processes, OnPoint populates its database with optical versions of all evidence suitable for admission, regardless of the original form of the production. Using OnPoint's real-time web interface, counsel in court or paralegals in a war room can instantly summon and display these records during a live proceeding. Subsets of the data relevant to a particular issue or witness can be readily downloaded to the user's local drive should internet connectivity be a problem. Although the underlying technology is sophisticated, the user interface is designed to be intuitive and, therefore, easy to navigate.

OnPoint supports dozens of different search methodologies to allow counsel to identify key trends, anomalies or specific items of evidence. Searches can be employed as a broad net or be iteratively narrowed to hone in on a particular record. Regardless of the search technique, OnPoint's Oracle 9i relational database offers massively improved flexibility over flat file resources. Incorporation of Oracle's UltraSearch engine simplifies the query process and stands behind OnPoint's intuitive user interface.

Litigation support products have previously focused on either document management featuring structured and full text search capabilities, or statistical data stored in a relational database. OnPoint is the first to offer both in a unified application. This means that a single search can traverse all evidence categories for responsive information, including numeric databases, as well as transcripts, pleadings, correspondence/memoranda, reports and other text records. Full-text, structured, and "intelligent" search options match those of best of breed services, but these operations are performed via a live database that is constantly updated and immediately translates statistical searches into demonstrative exhibits. This is the OnPoint difference.
